Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss #09 Lost Cherry: Swatches & Review
I have a bit of «bad day» as I’m staying home feeling sick, so I in desperate need of bright colors to improve my mood. I have one product that can do this job — this is red Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss.
Availability: US — Neiman Marcus, France (Paris) — Galleries Lafayette, Russia — Tsum.
Price: 45$ for 7 ml (US).
Limited Edition? No.
Duplicates: M.A.C. Lipglass Russian Red is very close with less visible blue base.
Final Thoughts: I’m a huge fun of all kinds of lip products, especially if they are red ones. From such point of view I think that this lip gloss is an interesting addition to my collection. However from the consumer’s point of view I can’t praise this gloss a lot. It definitely has beautiful packaging, color, it is lasting and doesn’t dry your lips. But it has a very inconvenient brush and a bit strange texture that make you work on you lips for few minutes to get the same color and coverage across your lips. It will look good and won’t gather elsewhere afterwards, but I don’t like the efforts I need to apply. Comparing to other luxury lip glosses I believe we’re paying extra 15 bucks for Mr. Ford’s name.
Please, read my review in Russian for maximum details on the product. Color details are given below.
#09 Lost Cherry if applied properly with all mentioned efforts is not Cherry at all, rather Russian Red typ of color — pure, highly pigmented glassy red with no shimmer. However if you use it’s native brush you’ll see that the color coverage is not that good, the color is partly transparent and shows some blue base, start looking like Cherry.
I’ve had few glossed in mind to compare with #09 Lost Cherry. M.A.C. Lipglass Russian Red is to my mind a dupe of Tom Ford. It may not show any blue base because it’s applied better. Bobbi Brown Lip Gloss Holywood Red #47 and Inglot Sleeks Cream #93 are somehow similar in color, but much less pigmented, more transparent.
You may see on that of the first picture the color is not that bold. Afterwards I’ve made some efforts to improve it. Still it’s hard to show what you see is what you get red color that is really visible when applied boldly.
I’ve used the following products in makeup:
1. La Prairie Anti-Aging Foundation SPF15
2. Bare Escentuals Mineral Veil «Original»
3. Shiseido Natural Eyebrow Pencil #GY903 Natural Black
4. byTerry Growth Booster Mascara (black)
5. Cle de Peau Cheek Color Duo #4
6. Tom Ford Ultra Shine Lip Gloss #09 Lost Cherry
