M.A.C. Shop & Drop Eye x4 (Shop M.A.C.): Swatches & Review
Finally I’m in good mood to show some eyeshadows. These will be M.A.C. Shop & Drop Eye x4 palette from Shop M.A.C. collection as I’ve decided to show all my spring «limited edition» product this week.
Availability: at M.A.C. counters since February-March.
Price: 38$ for 5.6 gr (US).
Limited Edition? Yes.
Final Thoughts: I have mixed impression of this palette because it’s color have different finish, as well as quality. The most common thing I can say that they are not long lasting, but this is rather my unfortunate feature — only 4 hours with any M.A.C. eyeshadow. Any eyeshadow primer dramatically improves my experience, so I buy these shadows occasionally. As for this particular palette — I have my favorite colors (Hypnotizing, Shop & Drop) anf the color I won’t ever use (Power Boosted). If I base on US prices, he overall cost of the palette (9.5$ for 1.4 gr in the palette vs. 15$ for 1.5 gr in single shadow) looks more convenient if you like at least 3 of 4 shades.
Please, read my review in Russian for maximum details on the product. Color details are briefly given below.
Hypnotizing — lilac-grey with metallic, but very delicate finish. This color has a very good pigmentation and color pay off, though it tends to fall under your eyes, if you take too mack color at ones. I thought it would be somehow similar to Shiseido Luminizing Satin Eye Color Trio #RD711 «Pink Sands» (Summer 2011). But Hypnotizing has more lilac, while Shiseido has pink undertones that make it look darker. Also Shiseido has beautiful creamy texture that is quite rare (but M.A.C. is easier to blend).
Shop & Drop — ash-grey powder with finely milled blue metallic shimmer. I like this color, but prefer to use it as an eyeliner, so that it could show more of that blue shimmer. If you use it over an eyelid, it won’t look as beautiful — the pigmentation is below average.
Power Boosted — the worst of all four color. This is violet with semi-matte finish and it seems there’re some pink or red undertones that make me look like I was crying all the night long. Pigmentation and color pay off is very poor.
Sugar Snack — very delicate pale-pink with matte, powder finish. Somehow similar to UNE Healthy Glow Mineral Powder #H03, but has more pink and is less pigmented.
I’ve tried two basic looks. One with Hypnotizing, Sugar Snack shadows, later added Shop & Drop as a liner.
