Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet #38 La Fascinante: Swatches & Review
Recently I’ve done a review of 2011 lipstick launches (sorry, haven’t translated it so far). Now I want to share one of the lipsticks mentioned in that post, but that I haven’t reviewed so far — Chanel Rouge Allure Velvet.
Rouge Allure Velvet — should be matt («velvet») finish lipstick with better lip care than matt lipstick usually have. I’ve found that:
— it makes your lips terribly dry. i usually start with good point, but this time dry issue doesn’t leave me any choice. First you think everything’s gonna be ok, but on the second day of wearing it you will notice more and more dryness daily.
+ long lasting (up to full day assuming you don’t eat cookies and similar).
+ good coverage and color pay off.
+ beautiful selection of shades.
Velvet #38 La Fascinante — deep blue-based red with matt finish. When you add extra layers finish may become semi-matt.
You can vary density of the shade if you use your lip brush.
Availability: at Chanel counters.
Price: 32.5$ for 3.5 gr.
Limited Edition? Yes *official website says so, but haven’t any problems to find it so far.
Final Thoughts: beautiful lasting colors, matt finish, good coverage and color payoff. But this lipstick is very drying. You may want to check Estee Lauder velvets for less drying effects (if they are still on sale), but their shades are not as good as Chanel ones. If you’ve found you favorite color in latest, please, don’t forget to use your lip balm more often.
