Noir G de Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara: Review
I haven’t translated any posts for a while, because I was on almost 2 months vacation and haven’t done that much reviews. You can visit my Russian part of the blog thought to find severals lists of best products or pictures from my vacation in Warsaw and Paris and beauty shopping, if you like. Now the New Year started and I can’t postpone new reviews any longer 🙂 So I’ve decided to start from the most wanted product of this winter — Noir G de Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara.
Noir G de Guerlain Exceptional Complete Mascara comes is classic «Guerlaine G» packaging similar to Rouge G lipsticks and very alike Rouge G Noir from Spring 2011 collection. Apart of the beautiful packaging this macara should give your lashes volume, length and curl them. Also it contains extra black pigments and care components like keratine to stimulate lash growth and fortify them.
To say the truth, I wanted this mascara so much simply because of the packaging. It is beautiful and luxury and comfortable. I didn’t expect the latest because similar lipstick seemed to heavy for me and I haven’t used the mirror that much. Mascara also has some weight (literally, smth between 80-100 gr), but you get used to it soon. The mirror is really helpful this time, cause when I don’t wear contacts but glasses applying eye makeup is always a nightmare. This mirror helps as I can hold it close enough to my eyes to see what I’m doing.
It will be a bit tricky to open it for the first time. There’s an instruction, but it confuses me somehow, although it is correct of course. All you need to do is to pull the head until it clicks and turn it clockwise. You’ll need to apply some force for the first time to turn and to open, but next ones will be much easier. I haven’t try to change refill yet.
Mascara itself is nice, but nothing of the drama unfortunately. It does have very black pigment, separates lashes, doesn’t fade under your eyes and was ok for my sensitive eyes and contacts, but I haven’t noticed any special length neither volume or curling effect. It is just good for the day, but I would change it for the evening. It smells of flowers, I liked the smell, but I’ve seen negative feedback on it on the web also. I haven’t notices any lash care effect as I’m using the mascara only about one week.
Availability: at your local Guerlain counter since January-February.
Price: 49$ with the packaging /26$ for refill, 6.5gr/0.22 oz in both (US price).
Limited Edition? No.
Final Thoughts: Very beautiful and convenient packaging, the mirror is very useful to me. You need to get used to unusual weight for a while and need to know how to open (easy: just pull the head until click and turn clockwise). It has beautiful deep black color, separates the lashes and holds during the whole day. But the effect on my lashes was very average. Daily look definitely, can’t get any drama.
This luxury packaging makes it quite expensive, especially considering I didn’t get what I wanted. But it has refills that are almost twice cheaper, so I consider it is ok for me. Daily, but I’ve really wanted to hold the THING. So I got it 🙂
