Estee Lauder Take It Away: Total Makeup Remover & Longwear Eye and Lip Makeup Remover
Today I’m going to make a review for two makeup removers by Estee Lauder from Take It Away line — kind of cleansing milk Total Makeup Remover and makeup remover for eyes and lips Longwear Eye and Lip Makeup Remover. I usually use such product to remove all makeup before I wash my face with soap or foam. It could be oil and micellar water some other time, but today my products are simple and quite famous.
Total Makeup Remover — cleansing milk or rather cream-gel that should remove all makeup including long-lasting and waterproof.
This is light and nice products with light citrus scent. It deals well with lightweight makeup, but as soon as you add layers (like primer, foundation, concealers, blush etc.) or use long-asting makeup you will need to use huge amount of product to clean everything. In the end you’ll certainly have clear face, but the waste of product is too big.
Longwear Eye and Lip Makeup Remover — makeup remover for any kind of makeup (incl. long-lasting and waterproof) from eyes and lips.
This one I liked much more. It really helps to remove makeup easily both from eyes and lips. It may have some issues with extra-lasting products and with lip stains, still it works good in most of the cases. I’m really happy to use it to remove my bright and heavy lipsticks. The only thing I don’t like is that it’s oily like most of the products of this kind. And please, be careful not to get it to the mouth when you remove your lipstick. It has ugly taste 🙂 This product will last for long, longer than e.g. Estee Lauder Gentle Eye Make Up Remover, which I buy quite often. The latest is more pleasant (without this oily feeling), but it doesn’t work as good for long-lasting products.
Availability: at Estee Lauder counters
Total Makeup Remover — 22$ (US) for 200 ml
Longwear Eye and Lip Makeup Remover — 24 Eur for 120 ml (seems it’s not available in US)
Final Thoughts: these two products made very different impression. Total Makeup Remover wasn’t that good. It has nice texture and scent, it removes light makeup easily, however if you wear heavy, long-lasting or waterproof makeup you will need to use a lot of product to remove it. Longwear Eye and Lip Makeup Remover is a very good product to remove long-lasting makeup from both eyes and lips. The only thing I didn’t like about it — is its oily texture, especially when I use it to remove makeup from lips. But it’s a usual story for that kind of makeup removers.
