Bare Escentuals High Shine Eye Color «Moonshine»: Swatches & Review
Today I’s like to share a review of very cool eyeshadows by Bare Escentuals — bareMinerals High Shine Eye Color. They were launched last autumn and I’ve purchased them immediately after, but it took a while until I started to use them.
bare Minerals High Shine Eye Color — are loose mineral eyeshadows that actually feel like creamy, even buttery. They are really a very fine loose powder, but they feel and apply very smoothly, like a butter, they are silky to touch and you get hardly any powder around your eyes when you apply them. On my eyes they last about 10 hours without a primer. You can wear them alone or mix with other eyeshadows, also they are good as eyeshadow primer. They help other color to be deeper, to shine and to last longer. Also this product is good as a shiny eyeliner (you should use another brush for such application).
There are 12 shades in range, all have shiny metallic finish: bareMinerals High Shine Eye Color Electric, Glisten, Patina, Moonshine, Frost, Bronzed, Meteorite, Gold Medal, Flash, Ice, Vapor, Rose Gold. Some of them are even electric, it really depends on a shade.
The only thing I didn’t like is the packaging. The sponge is designed in the way it comes out too fast and you have some eye color on your fingers and around. I would recommend to use another jar for these eyeshadows.
Ingredients: Oryza Sativa (Rice) Lipids, Silica. (+/-): Mica, Titanium Dioxide (CI 77891), Iron Oxides (CI 77489, CI 77491, CI 77492, CI 77499), Aluminum Powder (CI 77000), Bronze Powder (CI 77400), Chromium Hydroxide Green (CI 77289), Chromium Oxide Greens (CI 77288), Copper Powder (CI 77400), Ferric Ferrocyanide (CI 77510), Manganese Violet (CI 77742), Ultramarines (CI 77007).
I do’t really like standard loose eye shadows, so now I have one one by Rouge Bunny Rouge Loose Glitter Pigment. They are drier, looser, their finish is shiny, but not metallic. It’s really not about what is worse, but about your personal preferences.
Moonshine — is described as a deep plum, but I couldn’t get much plum of it. In daylight or cold electric light this shade looks like greyish violet or greyish lilac with gold and violet shimmer. But you get more of that promised plum when you stand in the warm yellow light.
I’ve tried to make some pictures with this shade on my eyes (added some Rouge Bunny Rouge Loose Glitter Pigment «Sleeping Under the Mandarin Tree»), but only on the last few pictures I managed to get some plum.
Electric light + flash.

Final Thoughts: I love these eyeshadows because of their great creamy texture (still remember, they are loos powder), smooth application and electric effect on the eyes. Their texture can be compared to Shiseido trios or eye color quads by Cle de Peau, but in both cases bareMinerals feels more buttery. However, it gives more shine than color if you compare it with mentioned palettes. If you like metallic, high shine finish you should try this product. The only drawnack is the packaging I’d personally change to some simple jar.
