Bare Escentuals: Mineral Veil & Brush Kit
It may look strange, but today I’d like to talk more about packaging than about the product. This will be kit from Bare Escentuals — Mineral Veil + Kabuki Retractable Brush. This mineral veils is my favorite loose powder for many years because of it’s thin and translucent coverage, it is a perfect finishing powder and you can even use it alone if your skin is problem-free. I wear it alone when I need just some mattifying effect and want to make my skin tone more even. There’s a problem with loose powders that they are not good for travelling. And Bare Escentuals has tried to resolve it.
I’ve bought this kit in Sephora in May cause the idea was great: you have travel size «Original» mineral veil in new box with a mirror and no holes you were used to. Plus you have a retractable Kabuki brush. The brush has nice bristles — soft, but tight, great for mineral products. But the brush holder seems to be weak. I expect it will break in half a year or so.
Veil container look convenient at the first sight, but it takes a while to understand how it works. There’s no sifter I was used to, but a strange hole, that doesn’t give you any veil. But when you lock the container and open it again, you get a portion of veil that is exactly what you need to finish your make up. It is really tricky because you can get more veil in the container and around when you open the box abruptly as I did on the photo below. I was experimenting with the packaging, so don’t be afraid, you want get the same result when you open the box gently 🙂
Final Thoughts: It’s a nice try to make a loose-powder packaging suitable for travelling. I appreciate this a lot, because I like loose powder much more than pressed powders. But this kit from Bare Escentuals certainly need rework. It’s a bit tricky to get veil out of the box and brush holder seems to break in a while. I think, BE knows this issues, because I haven’t seen this kit on official websites for a while, still there were some leftovers in Sephoras. I hope next try will be better.
My favorite travel packaging for now is one that goes with La Prairie Cellular Treatment Loose Powder.
