Estee Lauder Pure Color Velvet Lipstick in Red Velvet: Swatches & Review
I have few dozens of red or near-red color (yes, really, I’d addict). While experimenting with them and comparing I’ve noticed that you get the most sophisticated, polished look when you have the red matte on your lips. And though I don’t really like matte finish that much I couldn’t miss new arrivals from this autumn. All my friends went for Chanel velvets, but I’ve decided to go for Estee Lauder.
I don’t get all this chat about some special mattes we’ll have this autumn, like Chanel velvets. I believe that my lipstick is either matte or it’s not. You can have some semi-matte like NARS, but they don’t pretend to give you something special. I’m looking for matte finish that won’t dry my lips too much. This new lipstick from Estee Lauder is definitely the one I was looking for.
+ applies nicely, creamy texture;
+ good coverage;
+ long lasting (~ 8 hours for me);
+ rich colors;
+ matte, velvet finish;
— demanding to your lips: if your lips are dry, with any flaking this lipstick will show everything in a bad way.
— dries your lips just a little, so take care of some lip balms after;
Red Velvet — is a pure red w/o pink or orange undertones. The color is very rich, vibrant, very demanding to your overal look — clothes, make up, skin, even teeth color. It’s just one step before you and says, hey, look at me!

Limited Edition? Yes (esteelauder.com says so).
Summary: I love this pure red color although I usually wear reds with some pink undertones, bluish reds. This lipstick applies smoothly, feels nice and lasts long. You can share some color with your cap or you boyfriend, still the color on the lips remains bright as ever. It is a little bit dry, but not as dry as regular matte lipsticks I’ve used before. Can’t wait for a chance to compare it with Chanel velvets.
Did you like the shade? Any plans for a matte lipstick this autumn?
